OWEN COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Update: According to the Owen County Sheriff’s Office, the two individuals have been identified and investigators are speaking to them.
Officials stressed that there is no threat to the public at this time. And wanted to clarify that the incident took place in Owen County, not in the city of Cloverdale.
Original: Police are asking for the publics help in the search for suspects related to an attempted child abduction in Owen County.
Indiana State Police Public Information officer Sgt. Matt Ames confirmed through Cloverdale Community School Corporation an attempted child abduction at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at a preschool bus stop.
The attempted abduction happened in the Cunot community located in Owen County at the intersection of Cataract and Lutz roads.
The suspects are believed to be two males, driving a silver-colored Chevy Malibu. Police provided three photos taken from the school bus’ security camera system depicting two suspects and the suspected vehicle.
*Editor’s Note: The images of the two suspects have been removed now that law enforcement has identified and made contact with them.
The school corporation is working with the Putnam County Sheriff’s Department, Owen County Sheriff’s Department, and Cloverdale Police Department.
