VIGO COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A man who police say tried to meet with what he thought was a young teen for sex has new dates in his ongoing child solicitation case.
32-year-old Travis J. Kraemer, appeared in Vigo County Superior Court 6 for a hearing on Monday. During the hearing Kraemer learned of new jury trial and pre-trial dates. Kraemer faces a level 4 felony charge of child solicitation.
According to a probable cause affidavit filed in Vigo County Court, Kraemer was arrested in February of 2023, following a Vigo County Criminal Activity Team operation that teamed up with Predator Catchers Incorporated.
A deputy said that on February 19, 2023, Kraemer went to a target house on 9th Street, where a decoy who was posing as a 14-year-old girl was waiting. After entering the home, members of PCI confronted Kraemer causing him to run for the door. The affidavit said a scuffle occurred with members of law enforcement causing damage to the drywall of the home as deputies placed Kraemer under arrest.
Kraemer had reportedly made contact with the decoy through the mobile application “MeetMe”
Investigating deputies said that PCI provided them with written communication between the decoy and Kraemer that reportedly showed that believed the decoy to be a 14 year old girl. Kraemer reportedly told the decoy he was 31 years old and asked if she smoked, and would want to “cuddle and chill”.
The document listed the following conversation as being among the correspondence received from PCI;
- Kraemer: “yeah are you trying to do something?”
- Decoy: “Like what”
- Kraemer: “Like each other”
- Decoy: “WYM”
- Kraemer: “Lol you know what I mean”
- Kraemer: “I mean if you wanted to we could (expletive deleted)”
Kraemer was then taken to the Vigo County Jail, jail logs indicate he has been held there since on a bond of $35,000 with no 10% or professional bail allowed.
Court records show that Kraemer also is facing charges related to possession and dealing of methamphetamine in a separate 2021 case.
During Monday’s hearing Kraemer was given a new pretrial date of April 22. With a jury trial scheduled for June 24.
