VIGO COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — The Salvation Army of Vigo County is excited to announce that thanks to the community’s generosity, their operation is fully funded for 2024.
The organization raised over $135,776 during its Red Kettle campaign. That’s about $10,000 over their goal! Corps Officer Jeremy Fingar said it’s also the first time they’ve hit their kettle goal in seven years.
The money raised represents 87% of their annual budget and is used to help the community year-round.
“It’s the money that we used for direct service in our community, so the food we buy, the rent and utility assistance we provide, the school supplies, it’s everything. This will mean that there will be a lot of help to people in our community this year and it’s all because of the generosity and support the community showed us,” Fingar said.
Even though the Red Kettle campaign has ended, people can still make a donation to the Salvation Army.
