SULLIVAN COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — The second of two men charged in connection to the 2021 fatal shooting of a Shelburn teen was sentenced.
According to the Sullivan Circuit Court, Matthew T. Earle was sentenced to 6 years at the Indiana Department of Corrections on Tuesday morning at the Sullivan County Courthouse.
Earle pleaded guilty to criminal recklessness, a level 5 felony, in the death of Mezmeriah Wilson. Under the agreement, Earle received 6 years behind bars and can have no contact with the victim’s family.
Earle’s co-defendant, Kyle Johnson, recently pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter and was sentenced to 35 years in prison.
Authorities said Wilson was killed when shots were fired into a crowd of people that had gathered for a fight.
