FARMERSBURG, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — While Santa is famous for his sleigh-bound travel, folks in the Wabash Valley know he also likes to give the reindeer a rest from time to time and hit the rails.
The 2023 Santa Train is back for its 33rd year of spreading cheer to local communities with a number of stops in the area over three days.
The train remains stationary as guests view the decorated passenger cars and get a chance to visit with both Santa and Mrs. Claus. In addition to the big couple’s appearance guests will be entertained by a full cast of costumed characters.
The free event is open to children and adults of any age, and Santa’s elves will be on hand to give out coats, hats, and gloves to help children in need this winter.
“The enthusiasm of both the communities and volunteers for Santa Train grows exponentially each year,” President and CEO of The Indiana Rail Road Company Dewayne Swindall said. “Being able to offer coats, hats, and gloves for warmth to those in need during the holidays is a gift in itself.”
One stop on the itinerary will ditch the train, as guests visiting Bargersville will instead meet Santa and the other characters at the nearby city hall.
