VIGO COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)– Two homes were damaged in a fire early Sunday morning in Southern Vigo County.
According to Pierson Township Fire Chief JC Gummere, firefighters were dispatched around 7:00 a.m. for reports of a fire at 11500 block of Lake Road, near French Lake. The fire began in a garage but eventually spread to two homes.
Gummere said a litter of puppies was killed in the fire, but no other injuries were reported. Five residents were displaced; three were helped by the Red Cross and two others had a place to stay. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
The Riley, Honey Creek and Lewis Fire Departments also helped battle the fire, which lasted about three hours.
