TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Rose-Hulman has announced the second Discovery Music Series Concert of the year.
The event will take place at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 5 at Rose Hulman’s White Chapel. Attendees can expect to see performances by RHIT’s artist-in-residence and pianist Clare Longendyke, violinist Timothy Kantor, and cellist Nicholas Mariscal.
“Timothy and Nicholas have gone on to lead stellar careers since their musical training at Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music. It is a pleasure to welcome them back to Indiana to share their incredible musicianship with our Discovery Music Series audience,” said Longendyke.
Kantor, an associate professor of violin at the University of Arizona’s Fred Fox School of Music, has performed on many prestigious concert stages throughout the world and has been featured in multiple chamber music series. Kantor is also a member of the Afiara Quartet and has performed hundreds of concerts. Kantor also teaches at the Kinhaven Music School in Vermont, and the Programa Gabriel del Orbe in the Dominican Republic.
Appointed to the cello section of the prestigious Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra earlier this year, Mariscal, an alumnus of the New World Symphony in Miami, recently made his professional solo debut with the Tucson Symphony Orchestra. Mariscal also has been the assistant principal cellist of the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra since 2021 and has been a guest principal cellist with the Trondheim Symphony in Norway.
