TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — An Austin, Indiana man accused of firing a gun at law enforcement during a 2020 Terre Haute pursuit will next appear in court in 2024.
Jacob Tyler Rentauskas, 27, appeared before Judge Michael J. Lewis in Vigo County Superior Court VI on Tuesday afternoon for a hearing.
The hearing was scheduled after a request from the defense was granted on Oct. 11, allowing continuation of the case and the vacating of a planned October 18 jury trial.
During Tuesday’s hearing Judge Lewis scheduled a pre-trial hearing for 1:30 p.m. on February 13, 2024; should the case go to a jury, the trial will be held on April 15, 2024.
Rentauskas faces the following charges;
- Attempted murder
- A level 1 felony
- Burglary while armed with a deadly weapon
- A level 2 felony
- Unlawful possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon
- A level 4 felony
- Criminal recklessness
- A level 5 felony
- Obstruction of justice
- A level 6 felony
- Auto theft
- A level 6 felony
- Theft
- A level 6 felony
- Resisting law enforcement using a vehicle
- A level 6 felony
- Resisting law enforcement
- A class A misdemeanor
- Theft
- A class A misdemeanor
Rentauskas remains held at the Vigo County Jail on a bond of $100,000 with no 10% allowed.
