TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A Terre Haute organization that offers a summer camp and other programs for children has plans for a new project.
Thanks to a local organization, the summer camp has received a financial boost to bring those plans to fruition.
Camp Navigate in collaboration with First Baptist Church has received a grant from the Lilly Endowment.
The grant of more than $400,000 dollars will go toward developing a playground and running-walking trail at the church.
It will also help fund transportation and additional staffing for the camp’s programs.
Camp Navigate operates at the church, and both are thankful to Lilly Endowment for expediting their plans for the playground and trail.
“We were honored, we were blessed that they would choose us and other organizations in our city, our community. The fact that Lilly put so much emphasis on care for Vigo County is amazing,” said Eleanor Ramseier, Co-Founder and Executive Director of Camp Navigate.
“We were just thankful. We love our community. We’re thankful we get to exist and serve in our community, and through this partnership with Camp Navigate, we’re excited how our children in our community will be blessed,” said John Campbell, Senior Pastor of First Baptist Church.
They hope to have a playground and trail finished by May of next year.
