CAYUGA, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Employees of a local power plant are giving back to their community.
On Tuesday, employees at Duke Energy’s Cayuga station were awarded thousands of dollars in Duke Energy Foundation Grants.
The grant recipients were the Cayuga Volunteer Fire Department, Ivy Tech Community College, Parke County Community Foundation, Vermillion County Community Improvement Fund, and the Western Indiana Community Foundation.
Each organization received $5,000 for a total of $25,000 dollars.
“We asked our employees to list charities or potential grant organizations that they felt were deserving of the funds. We were able to narrow down from the 12 different charities down to 5 that were selected,” said Andy Leininger, plant manager at the Cayuga station.
Other Duke Energy stations awarding grant funding are the Edwardsport station and Gibson station.
Edwardsport station employees awarded $10,000 dollar grants to the City of Bicknell and to North Knox Social Ministries.
