LAWRENCEVILLE, IL (WTWO/WAWV) — Update: A search in Lawrence County involving resources from numerous agencies looking for a homicide suspect wanted out of South Carolina turned up empty Monday night.
Now law enforcement is unsure if he remains in the area.
According to Lawrenceville Police Department Chief Jim White, a tip from law enforcement in South Carolina arrived indicating that Johnathan Torell Kelly, who is wanted for the crimes of homicide, kidnapping, and possessing a weapon, was in the Lawrenceville area.
Kelly is described as weighing approximately 200 lbs., standing 6’2″, and is bald.

White and Sheriff Trenton Masterson thanked the surrounding counties and agencies for their assistance with the search. However even with the use of drones, dogs, and extra officers, Kelly remains on the loose.
If located law enforcement advises folks not to approach Kelly and instead call 911 to report the sighting.

The search was confirmed by the Knox County Indiana Sheriffs Department, which along with the Vincennes Township Fire Department provided a drone for the search. The Sheriffs Department also said the search was happening south of Lawrenceville.
