SULLIVAN, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)– Construction in Sullivan connected to a $1 million grant the city received is slated to begin on Monday.
According to a press release, work to begin repaving over a dozen roads within the city will begin July 17th and last through September. It’s a part of the Community Crossings Grant Program that’s run by the Indiana Department of Transportation.
“The City of Sullivan, myself and all the citizens I’ve spoken with are very excited about getting 17 streets and/or sections of streets paved with new asphalt this year,” J.D. Wilson, the city’s public works director, said in a statement in the press release. “I want to thank the INDOT CCMGP for providing this great opportunity, because it would be difficult for our community to pave the number of streets this year without it.”
The repaving will start in late July or Early August, with Sep. 1st being the target date for the completion of milestone asphalting, according to a tentative timeline. These dates are subject to change. The Sullivan School Corporation has been in contact with families over possible changes to bus routes during construction time.
