TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Ivy Tech Terre Haute welcomed 100 incoming nursing students on Wednesday for its new student orientation.
The students are pursuing a licensed practical nurse, LPN, or associate of science in nursing, APN, credential, at its Terre Haute campus and Greencastle sites.
Kim Cooper is the Dean for the School of Nursing, at the Terre Haute and Greencastle campuses.
Cooper spoke about how these students will eventually be able to meet a critical need by serving in local communities.
“We need them in our nursing homes our physician practices in our hospitals and in our communities. Those 100 people can go so far in completing some of the vacancies we have,” Cooper said.
Cooper also noted that this orientation is a chance to talk about the dos and don’ts of nursing, what you can expect as a nursing student, and how the school can help.
