FARMERSBURG, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A new website has been created by the Indiana Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force to help provide the public with a resource that will provide Hoosiers with information, statistics, applicable statutes, and a place to report internet crimes.
The Indiana Internet Crimes Against Children is a multi-agency task force managed by the Indiana State Police. With the ICAC being comprised of over 50 federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies, the multi-agency organization works to investigate and prosecute people who use the internet as a way to sexually exploit or entice children.
Since 2005, when the Indiana ICAC task force was created, a significant increase in complaints was recorded regarding online sexual exploitation and children being targeted. Last year, the ICAC received over 14,000 tips from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC).
All Hoosiers are encouraged to report all online solicitation, exploitation, and enticement-type activity or crimes against children to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC). For those looking to report an active crime taking place against your child specifically involving the internet or other electronic means, to please contact your local Indiana law enforcement.
People can visit the new Indiana Internet Crimes Against Children website here.
