WASHINGTON, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Three men have been arrested following an incident in which police say a perspn was struck in the head with a handgun and a shot was fired.
According to the Washington Police Department, the incident began with a call to dispatch at 12:04 a.m. Sunday where the caller reported a physical altercation had taken place at a residence on Dewey Avenue in Washington.
When police arrived on scene they discovered the victim had been struck in the head with a handgun, and a round had been fired during the altercation.
The investigation reportedly led police to a Maple Street residence, where a search was conducted by the department’s Emergency Response Team as well as the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office Strategic Response Unit at 6:25 a.m.
As a result of the search, police said three men were arrested, 29-year-old Santos Momplaisir, 33-year-old Harry Joseph, and 33-year-old Ben Monesil.
All three were preliminarily charged with battery with a deadly weapon, criminal recklessness, and residential entry.
Washington Police noted that this is the 6th incident involving gunfire investigated by WPD in the last year.
