VINCENNES, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — An anticipated road construction project has been postponed after city officials discussed and decided the scheduling of the project would cause too many conflicts.
Mayor Joe Yochum and City Engineer John Sprague have decided to postpone the project after discussing the timeline of the project with local schools, contracting companies, and INDOT.
The closure of Washington Avenue will now be scheduled for May 30 to avoid scheduling conflicts with school bus traffic and will keep the roadway open through Memorial Day Weekend.
City officials still ask motorists and people in the area to be cautious as utility work in the area has already begun with sub-contractors for Duke Energy and CenterPoint Energy actively relocating utilities for the upcoming Washington Ave. project.
