TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Friday evening, folks came out to academy sports to get their weather radios programmed.
Jesse Walker along with Dan Reynolds, our GM Tim Sanders, and a few other employees, helped get residents storm ready. A weather radio is a specialized radio receiver, that is designed to receive a public broadcast service dedicated to broadcasting weather forecasts and emergency weather reports.
We spoke with Dan Reynolds about why weather radios are important to the community.
“Think back not so long ago, recent events it’s critical to have the weather radio for any type of event day or night. They’re easy to program for your county, adjacent counties. So, if it’s a tornado at two in the morning you’re in bed asleep, that alarm will go off, you will hear it,” Reynolds said.
