VERMILLION COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A dog named Big Boy has been living at a drain pipe in Clinton, Indiana, for over five years with the help of surrounding residents.
Recently a concerned citizen was able to capture big boy and take him to the Parke-Vermillion Humane Society. He was immediately scheduled for a vet appointment and they learned that he has a lot of medical issues.
The exam noted that he had matted fur, severe dental disease, cataracts in both eyes, permanent displacement to his knee, and heartworm positive.
Shelter manager Amanda Auteberry said she’s hopeful he will get the love and care he needs.
“I’m just really happy that we are able to provide love for him as it turns out most people have never been able to touch him. So, he now knows that humane touch is a good thing,” Auteberry said. “He spends a lot of time cuddling with the staff, he’s going into a foster home tonight and we’re really just hoping to see him go from that dog that lived in the drainage pipe to a dog on a couch with a family.”
