WEST TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)– A mini-market. Spinning and weaving demonstrations. And lots and lots of alpacas.
Those were just some of the things on hand for at this year’s “Fall Farm Days” event hosted by the Sisters of Providence on the St. Mary’s of the Woods College campus on Sunday afternoon. Farm projects manager for the White Violet Center Tera Elmore said she was excited to see people back after a three-year hiatus.
“This is the first big event for us in three years now, that we’ve been able to have fall farm day,” she said. “We are so excited to see the families, to see the kids really interacting with the animals, to interact with the campus, to be looking and seeing the fall pumpkins, just to be experiencing this gorgeous day.”
Elmore said they also hoped to help educate people on some of the facts of the furry animals, like the products that can be made as a result of valuable fiber they produce. Elmore said one of her favorite parts of the day was being able to share it with the community.
“It lets us have the opportunity to share this with members of our community and we couldn’t be more excited about it,” she said,
Elmore said the group offers tours throughout the week for those who want to see the animals themselves. More details can be found on their website.
