TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WAWV/WTWO) – A national organization provided outreach and awareness in efforts to eliminate drunk driving Saturday.
Mothers Against Drunk Driving West Central Indiana met at Fairbanks Park to host a signature fundraiser called Walk Like MADD.
Donations from the walk helped support families who have lost a loved one due to a drunk driver. Some of that support includes counseling, attorneys, as well as other needs.
Volunteer Dawn Vasquez said events like the 5-k walk are important to her to share stories of her late son Shawn.
“He was just a super kid the ever-present, helper, and servant,” Vasquez said. “If he saw you on the side of the road, he was stopping .”
