VINCENNES, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Police in Vincennes are reporting the arrest of two individuals following a high-speed chase that ended in a field east of town.
In a Facebook post, the Vincennes Police Department reported the chase began when officers attempted to stop a black Dodge Durango and recognized the driver in the vehicle to be Ron A. Charlton Jr., who had an active felony warrant in Knox County. Police say Charlton rapidly accelerated instead of pulling over.
During the chase, Charlton reportedly struck a police vehicle near Locust Street but continued to flee with speeds reaching upwards of 85 mph.
Officers deployed stop sticks in the Washington Avenue and Belle Crossing area which caused the passenger side tires to deflate. The pursuit eventually ended in a field between Monty and Mt. Zion streets on Old US-50 just outside of town.
Following the pursuit, investigating officers located approximately 30.74 grams of suspected methamphetamine and a small amount of marijuana.
Police placed Charlton under arrest as well as passenger Allyson Catt, another passenger was released from the scene.
Ron A. Charlton Jr was charged with;
- Dealing in Methamphetamine, Level 2 Felony
- Possession of Methamphetamine, Level 3 Felony
- Resisting Law Enforcement w/ Vehicle, Level 6 Felony
- Resisting Law Enforcement, Class A Misdemeanor
- Possession of Marijuana, Class B Misdemeanor
- Reckless Driving w/ Propery Damage, Class B Misdemeanor
- Leaving Scene of an Accident, Class B Misdemeanor
Allyson Catt was charged with;
- Knox County, IN Level 6 Felony Warrant for Possession of Syringe
- Vanderburgh County, IN Class A Misdemeanor Warrant for Theft
- Possession of Methamphetamine, Level 6 Felony
- Resisting Law Enforcement, Class A Misdemeanor
The Knox County Sheriff’s Office assisted in the chase. Police reported there were no injuries as a result of the incident.
