TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — The Candles Holocaust Museum hosted a ceremony Thursday in honor of International Holocaust Remembrance Day and Eva Kor Education Day.
Students from Terre Haute South High School’s “Stand Club” gave speeches and conducted a candle lighting ceremony. CANDLES Founder Eva Kor’s son Alex Kor took the stand to speak about Eva while reflecting on Holocaust education.
“No matter what part of history we’re learning about, world history, U.S. history, its important for me as a Hoosier and as a son of two Holocaust survivors who’ve lived majority of my life here in Indiana that we continue with this emphasis to learn about the Holocaust and teach the lessons about the Holocaust,” Alex Kor said.
Jan. 27 was proclaimed Eva Education Day by the Governor of Indiana.
