TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – Terre Haute 12 Points Revitalization will host a series of neighborhood planning forums to discuss the future of 12 Points.
The forums will be moderated by RJL Solutions and these would be the first facilitated forums ever held to discuss the future of 12 Points.
12 Points Revitalization President Jennifer Mullen said that everyone is welcome at the forum.
“We’re inviting property owners, small business owners, investors and residents and just anybody in the community can come out and give ideas,” Mullen said.
Mullen explained that every idea heard in the forums will be taken into future consideration. She hopes that the community will bring new and fresh ideas to the table.
“If you can imagine it and we can dream it, maybe we can do it,” Mullen stated. “We’re hoping to get new ideas and see what community members really want to see in this area.”
Mullen said that the goal last year was to bring twelve new businesses, in twelve months to 12 Points. Nine businesses are already in place and Mullen said the revitalization process is moving faster than expected.
“When we first started this I was thinking more of like a ten year vision,” Mullen explained. “It’s actually moving faster than what I thought it would be.”
The Local Vinyl has played a big role in the growth and expansion of 12 Points. Owner Eleanor Jones has had a front row seat to the growth of the area.
“it’s been an amazing turnover for the neighborhood,” Jones explained. “I feel that month after month we get new neighbors.”
The first of three in-person forums will be held on Thursday at Maryland Community Church from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.
