TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A local doctor who worked to help those struggling with substance abuse throughout Indiana has died.
Dr. Randy Stevens died at the age of 69. Stevens served the community for several decades, participating in service organizations, non-profits and medical associations with a specific focus on family medicine and substance abuse.
In the early 1970s, Stevens served as a medical specialist with the US Army in Vietnam. His career included work with Hamilton Center, Union Health and IU School of Medicine.
In December of 2021, Stevens was honored with the “Sagamore of the Wabash” award as well as the “Chapman S. Root” award, recognizing him for his decades of service to the community.
