TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A local charity organization is looking for residents to help fight hunger in the Wabash Valley by participating in the 2022 Soup Bowl benefit.
The event, presented by Terre Haute Catholic Charities, raises money for the organization’s foodbank. Last year’s benefit raised $25,000, helping the foodbank provide 100,000 meals.
People can purchase a ticket to the benefit, which will be a drive-thru format again this year, at this link. Those who bought tickets will then be able to pick up a booklet of coupons for soups at local restaurants.
There will also be a limited number of bowls for purchase that were hand-crafted by local artists.
Jennifer Buell, assistant agency director, said it is good way to support different people during the winter months.
“It really is so dependent on the artist and many of our artists are returning from prior years so we’re just excited to see what they create for us,” Buell said.
The soup bowl benefit is set to take place on Feb. 5 at Maryland Community Church in Terre Haute.
