TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A local doctor was honored with two awards Thursday in Terre Haute, Ind. for his decades of service throughout the Wabash Valley.
Dr. Randall Stevens has served the community through a variety of organizations, nonprofits and medical associations with a focus on family medicine and substance abuse. On Thursday, he was surprised with the “Sagamore of the Wabash” award, the highest honor Indiana Gov. Eric Holcomb can bestow.
In addition to the award from the governor, Stevens was also given this year’s “Chapman S. Root” award, which was presented by the Hospice of the Wabash Valley.
“It was great to be honored by this organization that is so important and see so many of my colleagues out here for this reception,” Stevens said. “It just overwhelms me with joy.”
Dr. Stevens is also a US Army veteran who served as a medical specialist in the Vietnam War.
