This was the second of three days during which each region will have the opportunity to present its “vision, goals and strategies to positively impact the area’s quality of place and quality of life, innovation, entrepreneurship, and talent attraction and development,” according to a READI news release.
Greg Goode, the chair of the Wabash River Regional Development Authority, said that in the proposal for our region, there are 42 projects they would like to accomplish.
He said of those 42, he is hoping that the committee will give funding to the projects involving housing affordability and availability, investments in downtown Terre Haute, and the school system.
“The whole idea of the IEDC’s vision for this type of investment is, ‘how can the state dollars be leveraged in a way to attract additional funding from other various sources,” Goode said.
Goode said he is hoping that the committee will provide feedback and have an answer on which regions and projects will receive funding before the end of the year.
“I feel very, very good about our chances and our prospects and I think did a great job today capturing the attention of state leaders,” Goode said.
Launched by Gov. Holcomb and led by the IEDC, READI builds on the framework of the Indiana Regional Cities Initiative and the 21st Century Talent Initiative, encouraging regional collaboration to retain talent in Indiana.
