TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Indiana State University students raced Friday afternoon in a one mile event to support cancer research.
Over 100 students and faculty members gathered around the fountain on ISU’s campus for the race. All funds collected from the event will go toward the Rich and Robin Porter Cancer Center on ISU’s campus, founder Rich Porter said.
Porter said ISU students will be a part of solving cancer one day. There was also an online donation option for those not wanting to participate in the race, but still wanted to help.
“The students here at Indiana State University are going to be a part of solving cancer one day and it makes me proud to be a part of that,” Porter said. “Cancer touches everyone. You cant find a person that didn’t have cancer, somebody in their family or a business colleague. It touches everyone in this world and Indiana State students will be part of that solution.”
