TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – Arts Illiana unveiled a new mural in 12 Points.
The mural depicts an outline of the state of Indiana, filled with dozens of flowers. The message this piece brings is ‘bloom where you are planted’.
Shayla Fish painted the mural. Fish, a digital artist, says that this is the first mural that she’s ever painted. However, she used her digital abilities to make the art.
“I took pictures of this wall on my iPad so it was a lot easier to tackle,” Fish said. “I could draw it to scale and then have it in front of me so I could figure out and tackle one flower at a time.”
Mayor Duke Bennett attended the unveiling and he says that he’s pleased to see 12 Points add another vibrant piece of art.
“Our goal is to make the city more fun, exciting and bring some more color,” Bennett said. “We’re just trying to do some things that add to the mix that we already have and this does that.”
This is the third mural for the Mini Mural Project by Arts Illiana. The other two murals are located in downtown Terre Haute making this one the first in 12 Points.
The mural is located between Lafayette and 13th Streets on Maple Avenue.
