VIGO COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — One man died Sunday morning after a semi tractor-trailer driving on I-70 rolled over off of the road, according to a news release from Indiana State Police Sgt. Matt Ames.
ISP officers arrived to the scene at approximately 8:15 a.m. Sunday to find a 2016 Freightliner semi tractor-trailer driven by Shiraf Shafiullah, a 32-year-old from Louisville, rolled over on I-70. Shafiullah was driving westbound near the seven-mile marker when, for an unknown reason, his vehicle ran off the interstate and into the median, Ames said.
The semi then got trapped amongst the cable barrier inside the median and rolled over on the driver’s side. Shafiullah was ejected from the semi and sustained fatal injuries.
The Vigo County Coroner’s Office arrived shortly after and pronounced Shafiullah dead at the scene. According to police, an autopsy will be performed Monday.
Shafiullah’s family has been notified of his death. Drugs and alcohol are not considered to be a contributing factor to the accident, police said.
