TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A two-car crash June 3 in Otter Creek sent three people to the hospital, according to Otter Creek Fire Department Public Information Officer Taylor Hardy.
Otter Creek Fire Department members responded around 10 p.m. Thursday to a crash near North US 41 and East Hasselburger Avenue that left one woman pinned inside her car. Another woman was also stuck upside down in the car.
Fire officials were on the scene within four minutes of the initial call, according to Hardy, and they immediately began extracting the woman from her car. It took around 15 minutes to successfully free her, according to a press release while dispatch called IU Health Lifeline to auto-launch.
Soon after Otter Creek Fire arrived on the scene, members of the Vigo County Sheriff’s Office, Indiana State Police and Seelyville Town Marshal all showed up and assisted in the cleanup and management of traffic. The area was closed for around an hour, Hardy said, but has since reopened.
Before IU Health Lifeline came to the crash site, TransCare ambulance came and called off lifeline because the passengers’ injuries were less severe than initially thought. A total of three people were then taken by TransCare to local hospitals. The extent of their injuries are still unknown, according to a press release sent by Hardy Saturday morning.
