TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Ivy Tech is offering free summer classes to high school juniors and seniors close to completing college credentials. The classes are in partnership with Indiana’s Crossing the Finish Line program.
Ivy Tech Community College Terre Haute is amplifying the initiative by offering additional scholarships to help more students become eligible for the program. Students in either the class of 2021 or 2022 who have previously taken one or more Ivy Tech dual credit classes are eligible to apply.
Through the program, students can fast-track their college education by earning free credits that could lead into a new career or transfer, a press release said. Items covered in the initiative include eligible students’ tuition, fees, books and cost of obtaining all required transcripts and tests.
Ivy Tech staff will assist students in finding courses that best suit their needs. Potentially, students could complete the Indiana College Core, a credential allowing those who complete it to start college as a sophomore at any Indiana public four-year institution.
Indiana’s Crossing the Finish Line program will only be available in the summer. Classes are set to begin June 7.
