PARKE COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A Terre Haute man wanted on outstanding warrants will face additional charges after leading Parke County deputies on a high-speed chase into Paris, Ill.
Deputies attempted a traffic stop on 27-year-old Robert Bealmear Monday near Montezuma. Instead of stopping, Bealmear continued westbound on US 36, reaching speeds greater than 100 miles per hour.
The pursuit continued through Vermillion County and then into Illinois. Bealmear turned southbound on Route 1 coming into Paris, Ill. where he crashed his vehicle. Bealmear then got out of the car and started running.
Parke County deputies were able to apprehend Bealmear in a business’ yard in Paris.
Bealmear is currently hospitalized in Illinois, according to the Parke County Sheriff’s Department. Once released, he will face charges of resisting law enforcement and reckless driving.
