FARMERSBURG, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Area health departments are having to cancel, reschedule and change upcoming vaccination clinics following guidelines to pause the use of the one-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine.
Indianapolis Motor Speedway mass vaccination clinic
The Indiana Department of Health is encouraging vaccination sites to use existing doses of Pfizer or Moderna if available to fulfill previously scheduled Johnson & Johnson appointments. The state also has supplied the two-dose Moderna vaccine for a mass vaccination clinic at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The clinic will continue through Sunday.
Those who have an appointment to receive the Johnson & Johnson vaccine at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway will receive the Moderna vaccine until further notice. Details about second-dose appointments will be available soon.
Anyone with a Johnson & Johnson appointment at another location in the next two days may call 211 [(866) 211-9966] to cancel their appointment and reschedule at either a Pfizer or Moderna vaccination site. Information regarding appointments beyond that timeframe will be provided at a later time.
Sullivan County, Indiana
The Sullivan County, Indiana Health Department will hold its scheduled vaccination clinic from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at the fairgrounds; however, instead of Johnson & Johnson, participants will received the Moderna vaccine.
According to the health department, Moderna vaccinations are available six days a week in Sullivan County.
Clark County, Illinois
The Clark County, Illinois Health Department canceled its vaccine clinic scheduled for April 14 at the Baptist Church in Marshall.
The next vaccination clinic in Clark County will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday at the Marshall Baptist Church.
Those who already scheduled appointments for the Johnson & Johnson clinic will have the option to receive Moderna vaccination on Saturday at the Marshall Baptist Church. Appointments that were made for Moderna during Wednesday’s clinic will have the option to moved to Saturday or to the following Wednesday.
Jasper County, Illinois
The Jasper County Health Department will move forward with a Thursday vaccination clinic. Those scheduled to receive the Johnson & Johnson vaccine will have the option to cancel the appointment or receive the first dose of Moderna Thursday.
Those who choose to keep their appointment will not be required to get a new appointment or new ticket. To cancel an appointment, click the link on the text message received or message the health department.
