TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Members of Indiana State University’s College of Technology on Wednesday assembled STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) kits for 3rd through 5th graders at Ouabache and Ben Franklin Elementary Schools at the North American Lighting Student Success Center on campus. They were joined on the project by the Dean’s Student Advisory Council, and the ISU Center for Community Engagement.
Kits contain the materials students and teachers need in order to complete an engineering design project. A total of 230 total student packets and 11 teacher packets were prepared to be delivered to the schools at a later date. A lesson plan for the project, also prepared by students in the Technology and Engineering Education program, is included in the teacher packet.
The purpose of the project was to promote STEM education in the local community in observance of National Engineers Week, Feb. 21 – Feb. 27.
