TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A Marshall, Ill. man was killed early Wednesday morning in a weather-related crash.
According to Indiana State Police, Tanner L. Carpenter, 23, of Marshall was driving too fast for conditions headed westbound on I-70 when he lost control of his Mustang. The vehicle went into an uncontrollable spin, striking the concrete barriers of the Wabash River bridge several times, before coming to rest in the middle of the interstate’s passing lane.
A semi-tractor-trailer driven by Jose Hector Gurrola-Rodriguez of Mexico then struck the driver’s side door and forced the car into the median.
Carpenter was pronounced dead at the scene.
Indiana State Police have responded to multiple crashes Wednesday morning following the first snowfall of the season in the Terre Haute area, including a personal injury crash and a nine-vehicle crash.
