TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – Firefighters fought flames for hours in downtown Terre Haute Friday evening. Fire Chief Jeff Fisher says crews got a call around 5:45 p.m. for a fire near 18th St. and Wabash Ave. Officials report the fire started at AAA Vacuum and spread to area businesses and an apartment building attached, but the people inside were evacuated. No injuries were reported.
Streets were closed from 16th to 19th streets from Wabash to Warren. Fisher says crews had to pull water from several hydrants and Duke Energy cut power in the area.
Fisher asks the public who saw the fire before crews arrive to call him with the information.
