CLAY COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – An inmate who police say escaped from an officer at the Clay County Justice Center Sunday is now in custody.
Indiana State Police say 59-year-old Timothy Biddy was taken into custody Tuesday night at North 25th and Beech Streets in Terre Haute.
A state police trooper spotted a vehicle Tuesday night in northern Vigo County that he believed may be driven by 59-year-old Timothy Biddy of Terre Haute.
Police say the trooper tried to pull the vehicle over, but the vehicle continued and led the trooper on a pursuit that eventually ended at 25th Street near Beech Street.
Biddy was taken into custody without incident. Police say further investigation revealed Biddy had marijuana and a stolen vehicle out of Collinsville, Illinois.
In addition to an escape from lawful detention charge out of Clay County, he now faces charges in Vigo County including resisting law enforcement, auto theft, reckless driving and possession of marijuana.
ISP Sgt. Matt Ames says the Clay County Sheriff’s Office, Vigo County Sheriff’s Office and Terre Haute Police assisted troopers in the arrest.
