VERMILLION COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A Paris man is facing several charges following a police pursuit Monday evening.
According to Vermillion Co. Sheriff Mike Phelps, deputies observed a vehicle traveling 112 mph in a 60-mph zone at approximately 9:28 p.m. Monday on SR 63 from SR 36.
Deputies caught up to the vehicle and initiated a traffic stop, when the driver, Dalton Seafler of Paris, IL, took off at a high speed.
Officers pursued Seafler and lost sight of the vehicle, but another officers spotted him driving southbound on US Highway 150 near St. Mary-of-the-Woods.
Eventually, Vigo County united and Indiana State Police were able to deploy stop sticks and stopped Seafler. Officers found a small amount of marijuana on Seafler and several hypodermic needles in the trunk of the car.
Seafler was taken to the Vermillion County Jail, where he failed field sobriety tests. Seafler was then taken to Union Hospital Clinton, where he tested positive for cannibinoids.
Seafler was then brought back to the Vermillion Co. Jail and booked on seven charges, including operating a vehicle while intoxicated, reckless driving, and resisting law enforcement. Seafler’s bond is set at $10,000 with 10% allowed.
