TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Baesler’s Market and JR Pharmacy put together food bags Tuesday for those who may need help getting their groceries.
Purdue University sent a $1,000 grant to JR Pharmacy to assemble the bags.
Employees from both businesses put together 30 food baskets that will be delivered along with customer prescriptions.
“We already provide free delivery for prescriptions, and so we’re able to deliver this at the same time that we are delivering prescriptions to people,” Lori Eldred, pharmacist at JR Pharmacy said. “And so it worked out well that we were able to coordinate the two.”
Eldred said she thinks this grant can help put more people at ease.
“We’re sure it will help, I mean unfortunately I have some patients that have to choose between buying their prescriptions or paying another bill or you know filling up their grocery cart,” Eldred said. “So I’m sure it will help several people in the community.”
