DAVIESS COUNTY, Ind. — A recently incarcerated inmate at the Daviess County Jail tested positive for COVID-19 Friday.
According to the sheriff’s department, the inmate was never in general population at the jail due to procedures already in place; however, three deputies, three Washington police officers, five jail staff members and other individuals who came into contact with the inmate have been tested and are currently under quarantine.
As of Friday afternoon, the Daviess County Health Department reported a total of 31 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the county. To date, one resident has died of the virus.
