TERRE HAUTE Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – Friday, community members, and family members joined together to show their gratitude for all the work healthcare workers do.
Outside of the Terre Haute Regional Hospital’s Emergency Room, artwork, quotes and inspirational words were all drawn out in chalk.
“We were surprised by children that showed up at the hospital today wanting to leave their messages of support for the employees and staff here,” Regional’s Chief Operating Officer Lindsay Stergar said. “The additional support that we’ve received from the community has just been tremendous.”
She adds, events like this, are what shows the workers the community appreciates all that they do.
“Knowing that they’ve got the ongoing support of the community has touched everyone’s hearts whether it’s through food where most of us find comfort, whether it’s through messaging, whatever it may be, our employees have been overwhelmed by the amount of support that we received from the community.”
Katrina Pender, a Behavioral Health Program Director for the hospital said, she joined in on the fun, and added some artwork of her own.
“I think it’s just a really nice surprise. It’s just something I would not expect to see walking into work for the day, so I hope they enjoy it when they come in tomorrow.”
Indiana State Police Sergeant Matt Ames stopped by to show appreciation from not only him, but The Indiana State Police as a whole.
“So I did participate today. The Indiana State Police just put on there that thank you for all the hard work that you’re doing for us. We really do appreciate you.”
