TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — The final day of Black History Month was celebrated with a special presentation looking into nearly 100 years of the black experience at Indiana State University.
The program held at the Vigo County Historical Museum Saturday showed the university’s progression in diversity from the year 1870 to 1960.
Guest speaker Dr. Crystal Reynolds said she’s worked extensively to uncover the untold stories of black history in the Terre Haute community.
She said she believes black history at the university is history for everyone to celebrate.
“It’s all of our history. Black history is everybody’s history. It’s American history. Terre Haute should be proud to know that it supported the school that supported the students to go on and do great things,” she said.
The Vigo County Historical Museum has a display on African-American heritage in the County Origins exhibit.
