VIGO COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV ) – One person was transported to the hospital after a wreck involving two semi trucks on I-70 on the east side of Terre Haute.
It happened Friday morning on I-70 westbound at mile marker 11, near the State Road 46 exit.
Indiana State Police Sgt. Matt Ames says a semi truck driver got distracted by pouring a drink into a cup and rear-ended the back of another semi that was traveling westbound.
The driver of the truck that was hit complained of pain and went to Regional Hospital.
The driver of the first semi was cited for speeding too fast to avoid a collision, according to Ames.
Ames says ISP wants to re-iterate that distracted driving isn’t limited to texting and driving, and reminds drivers to pay attention to the road at all times.
The right lane of I-70 westbound was closed while crews cleared the scene, but has since re-opened.
