If you would like to have a cold beer on a hot day at the Indiana State Fair you may soon be in luck.
Republican State Senator Jean Leising from Oldenburg has submitted Senate Bill 168 that would let you do just that.
The Indiana State Fair is only one of two state fairs that prohibit the sale of alcohol and it has been banned here since 1947.
Officials say that it wasn’t banned because drunks were getting out of hand, it was because of too much litter and empty bottles.
The main reason fair official’s support the idea is money.
They want more of it.
Alcohol is served at the state fairgrounds at many other events throughout the year.
Those against it say it does not promote a family friendly environment and could cause other problems.
